About the Class:
Actionable customer analytics is about making data-informed business decisions. Managers navigate complex scenarios, weighing alternatives to foster business intelligence and deeper customer insights. This master course delves into the most powerful data analysis techniques. However, the focus is not on the methods alone but on translating the results into recommendations for management decisions.
A cornerstone of this course is the real-life challenge. In collaboration with a business partner, we introduce students to one of the partner's marketing issues and provide them with corresponding (real) business data. Students must then apply the lecture-taught methods to address this challenge.
In this first lecture, students will be introduced to the course concept, which consists of a well-balanced mixture of the real-life challenge, in-class lectures, digital learning units on analytical software use, and team coaching sessions. Then, students will be introduced to the different types of decision-making, how data analytics supports such tasks, and how current developments in AI (e.g., ChatGPT) are affecting the need for data analytical skills. Finally, Michael Horn, Head of Analytics at XING, will brief the students on the business background of this year’s challenge and the data provided.
