Designed for curious minds ready to turn data into real impact
You are curious about what data can reveal, but you also care how those insights are used and who they affect. This program helps you build the tools, the technical confidence, and the honest judgment to work with data in ways others can trust.
- Future Data Analysts
You are starting your data career and want hands-on foundations in data science, machine learning, and ethical AI, built on real-world challenges. - Early-Career Data Practitioners
You already work with data and want stronger modeling, forecasting, and problem-solving skills to take on more complex projects. - Industry-Focused Data Specialists
You want to apply data science in fields like healthcare, finance, or consulting, where trustworthy insight and context matter as much as technical skill. - Purpose-Driven Tech Builders
You care how data is used and who it serves. You want ethical grounding, clear judgment, and the confidence to build AI and analytics solutions people can trust.
Program Emphasis
As data shapes every organization, the ability to work with it confidently and responsibly has never mattered more. This Bachelor of Science helps you build strong technical foundations while developing the clarity, curiosity, and integrity that good data work demands. From day one, you work on real-world challenges through the phases of Orientation, Calibration, Elevation, and Activation, growing both as a data scientist and as someone who takes responsibility for the impact of their work.
- Master the Core of Data Science
Build confidence with data, code, and evidence through statistics and data analysis, mathematical foundations for AI, and data structures and algorithms. - Apply Machine Learning to Real-World Challenges
Turn business questions into models, forecasts, and action using data solutions, machine learning, and data-led decision making. - Communicate Insights with Clarity and Care
Data work creates value when others can understand and act on it. You will practice visualization and storytelling that turn analysis into shared understanding and action. - Build Ethical Judgment into every step
Explore the ethical, economic, and human dimensions of AI so you can build solutions that are transparent, responsible, and honest about their limitations and impact.
Requirements / Application
- Applicants must provide a secondary school leaving certificate. For those with a German certificate, including Abitur or Fachhochschulreife, the verification is done in-house. For non-German certificates, the verification is completed via a ministry check or entrance exam.
- Proof of English proficiency at a minimum B2 level is required. While certificates are preferred, this requirement can be waived if English is the applicant’s native language or if they have completed a degree program taught in English.
- Applicants must demonstrate their motivation through the application form and during the admission process.
- An admission interview is mandatory and is used to assess the applicant’s eligibility and alignment with the program.
- Applicants must be able to attend mandatory evening course discussions, which are scheduled at 6 PM CET. Accommodations for other time zones are currently limited until there is a critical mass of learners in those regions.
- Adherence to ToU’s community guidelines, which emphasize a spirit of service, is required. This is assessed during the admission process, including the interview.
- A letter of motivation must be submitted to explain the applicant’s reasons for joining the program. If an applicant has participated in a company-sponsored challenge (e.g., Deutsche Bank), they may be exempt from submitting the letter but must still demonstrate their motivation during the interview.
