A day in the life of a Full-time MBA student: Shreya Bahadur
Shreya Bahadur, MBA student at Alliance Manchester Business School, offers a glimpse into her daily routine and the experiences that shape her journey.

From engaging classes to lively city life, Shreya's story highlights the unique aspects of the Manchester Full-Time MBA and the rich opportunities it offers.

You can watch Shreya talk about a day in her life as a Full-time MBA student in the video below.

Embracing diversity and cultural exchange

Living with a fellow MBA candidate from Norway, Shreya enjoys the cultural exchange and mutual support that come with sharing a flat. "I love having the opportunity to learn more about her culture and her background," she says. (00:17)

This arrangement enhances her global understanding and creates a partnership for navigating the demanding program.

For Shreya, the relationships formed during the MBA are as valuable as the academic and professional knowledge gained. As the VP of Social for her class, she emphasizes the importance of connecting and unwinding outside of school.

"The relationships you cultivate here are truly deep and meaningful," she says. (02:32)

Since leaving the US for the UK, Shreya has embraced the opportunity to develop an expanded international perspective. It helps that she's not the only one studying abroad - over 30 nationalities are represented in her class.

The diversity of the student body enriches class discussions and group work, creating an incredible shared learning experience. These connections are vital for personal growth and professional networking, providing a support system that extends beyond the classroom.

The Manchester Method: Learning by Doing

One of the primary reasons Shreya chose Alliance MBS is the Manchester Method, which emphasises learning by doing. "I learn better when I get to immediately apply what I’ve learned in the classroom,"she explains. (01:40)

The Manchester Method promotes teamwork and collaboration among students, simulating real-world business settings. Group projects and discussions encourage students to share diverse perspectives and develop interpersonal skills.

This integrative approach ensures students understand the interconnectedness of different business disciplines. It also prepares them for a variety of professional roles.

The program includes three live consultancy projects, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Manchester MBA students get to work on a large variety of projects. In Shreya’s first group project, her team tackled M&A negotiations. Her current project team is working on a route-to-market strategy for an advanced materials manufacturer client.

Getting hands-on experience reinforces classroom learning and equips students with practical skills that are essential for their careers.

Historic roots, modern growth

Shreya's daily walk to school is a blend of old and new, much like Manchester itself. The city's architectural juxtaposition of historic and modern also mirrors her personal growth throughout the MBA program.

She lives in Circle Square, a newly built complex that houses a gym, shops, cafes, and restaurants. It’s also home to large multinationals like Accenture, Hewlett Packard, and Hilti. These corporations regularly recruit graduates from the program.

"My walk to school is short but beautiful," Shreya says. (00:52)

The proximity of the campus to the vibrant environment of Circle Square significantly enhances the overall experience. This dynamic energy attracts students and young professionals, all eager for new career opportunities. Many companies are currently establishing their presence in Manchester, making it an ideal location for new graduates.

Nearly all Alliance MBA graduates find employment within three months. Graduates of the program have an average 108% increase over their pre-MBA salary, according to the 2024 FT MBA ranking.

Shreya is confident in the transformative power of her well-rounded MBA program. The hands-on Manchester Method, the diverse city of Manchester, and a supportive community are all key to her positive study experience. These factors create an environment where students can thrive both personally and professionally.

Studying for an MBA at Alliance Manchester Business School means getting a unique blend of tradition and innovation. Students graduate with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in a global business environment.
