The curriculum of the M.B.A. program consists of 61 credit hours, of which 23 hours are devoted to a common body of knowledge (the core) required of all graduates. The other 38 hours are devoted to an area of concentration and to electives in another concentration or over a range of management-related subjects. Semesters are divided into "modules," each running for seven weeks. Module I and Module II run in the first (fall) semester, and Module III and Module IV take place in the second (spring) semester.

Students normally carry 14-16 credit hours each semester, and complete the program in two academic years. A student may take no more than 18 hours of credit per semester. A minimum of three courses per module is required, but no more than ten (10) hours may be taken in any one module. A student may not enroll in a course for which he or she does not have the prerequisite course(s). No thesis or oral examination is required. Because Owen's academic standards are high, transfer credit is rare.

Distribution and International Requirement
Students must take at least 12 hours, in addition to core requirements, in courses outside the primary field of concentration. Additionally, to assure exposure to international issues, each student is required to take at least one of the following courses.

Courses that satisfy the international requirement may also be applied to appropriate concentration requirements.
