New scholarship for women in finance

The Said Business School, University of Oxford, and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP are delighted to announce the creation of a new scholarship for female finance professionals undertaking the Diploma in Financial Strategy

The PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding woman candidate for the masters-level Diploma programme. The scholarship, which covers the GBP 10,000 course fees for the programme, is designed to increase the flow of talented women into senior finance roles. Female EU-resident applicants to the programme are eligible to apply. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a 500-word statement explaining how the Diploma will help the applicant's career and their personal development. The deadline for applications is 14 February 2007.

Sarah Churchman, Head of Diversity at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP explained: "We are delighted to support this initiative and to work with Said Business School because women still fill a minority of senior roles in finance and the Oxford Diploma in Financial Strategy will provide an excellent springboard for talented women to reach senior positions. Oxford University's global reputation for excellence means we are confident the Diploma will attract candidates of the highest calibre."

Jonathan Black, Programme Director of the Diploma at Said Business School commented: "We welcome the PricewaterhouseCoopers support of the Diploma programme in this way and their commitment to creating further opportunities for high-flying women in finance. The Said Business School is keen to continue to attract the strongest women candidates to our programmes and to act as a catalyst to enable them to fulfil their potential"

This Scholarship will sit alongside the new Jennifer d' Abo Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded annually to a British woman applicant to the School's MBA programme.

The Diploma in Financial Strategy was launched in 2006 and is a new postgraduate qualification for finance professionals. The year-long, module-based Diploma course draws on Oxford's strengths, particularly in finance and strategy, to offer a distinct intellectual edge, combining the highest standards of academic rigour with a practical understanding of business and wealth creation.

Ideal for finance professionals looking to further their careers and broaden their knowledge, the course allows participants to take a more active role in the financial and business strategy of their organisation. It also provides a gateway to Said Business School's Executive MBA programme (EMBA) - credits from the Diploma can be transferred to the Executive MBA.

A further Diploma Scholarship of GBP 10,000, covering the course fees, is provided for chartered accountants by CCH, and is awarded annually based on an essay competition.
