The IE Business School MBA program has students from 57 countries in this year’s intake, placing it among the most diverse MBA programs in the world. Countries of student origin include China, Egypt, Korea, Singapore, U.S., Israel, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Nepal, or the Republic of Sierra Leone. Moreover, 40% of the IE MBA faculty are international professors, teaching real cases about multinationals worldwide to further contribute to the international atmosphere at IE. This level of diversity has been recognised recently in the Financial Times MBA programs ranking, which positions IE Business School as the No.1 Business School in Spain, the 3rd in Europe and 11th in the world.
“In 1998 we had students from 20 countries on our MBA program and in less than a decade we have tripled that figure” says Gonzalo Garland, Director of External Relations at IE Business School, for whom the level of internationalisation at IE plays a key role in responding to the demands of multinationals. “An increasing number are asking for directors with a more international profile to implement expansion plans”. Santiago Iñiguez, Dean of IE Business School, explains that “a major challenge for international business schools nowadays is the transformation of their students into “cosmopolitan managers”. By this I mean persons who consider themselves citizens of the world who are able to manage their companies effectively in multicultural contexts for the creation of wealth for their stakeholders and society”.
IE has MBA student exchange programmes with over 50 international universities. Moreover IE Business School is one of the founding members of SUMAQ, a network comprising leading business schools in Spain and Latin America. IE Business School enjoys an agreement with Northwestern School of Law, with whom it has launched a Master of Laws, and the Fletcher School at Tufts University, with whom it has implemented a dual degree in the fields of business management and international relations. The school also holds an agreement with the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business to run the Global Senior Management Program (GSMP), aimed at top-level directors and entrepreneurs. Furthermore, IE has partnered with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) and the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) to launch a dual master’s degree program in Management and Logistics.
