Corporate innovation in the digital age

Beschreibung

Digitalisation has become a key driver for economic growth

In its current survey, McKinsey estimates up to 126 billion Euro additional value creation in Germany until 2025 (manager magazin). This increase is not only due to IT & infrastructure but in particular to new business models and innovative products and services.

How can companies benefit from digitalisation and become more entrepreneurial to stimulate and drive innovation? One possibility is certainly to collaborate with start-ups - the other way is by developing a culture of entrepreneurship within the corporate structures.

Join us for key notes and a lively discussion with Gregor Gimmy, Founder of BMW Startup Garage, Peter Borchers, CEO of Allianz X and ESCP Europe Professor of Entrepreneurship Dr. Martin Kupp.

Registration opens at 6.30 p.m., the first keynote starts at 7.00 p.m.

The evening will be concluded by a get-together with drinks and snacks.

We are looking forward to welcoming you at Payback.

Keynote & Best Practices: Cooperation between corporates and start-ups Gregor Gimmy, CEO & Founder BMW Startup Garage, explains common mistakes corporates commit when dealing with start-ups: Start-ups are arguably one of the most misunderstood forms of organization, in particular by management of large corporations. What a pity! This misunderstanding causes significant losses in innovation quality, time and cost. Here are some of the not-so-obvious, yet quite damaging mistakes corporates commit when dealing with start-ups:
  • To help start-ups
  • To invest in start-ups (for innovation)
  • To accelerate start-ups
  • To pay for discovery of top start-ups
  • To give C-Level a vote in start-up selection

Peter Borchers, CEO of Allianz X, and former founder and head of Deutsche Telekom's global incubator "hub:raum", offers best practices of collaboration between start-ups and larger companies.

Keynote: The entrepreneurial mindset
Martin Kupp, associate professor for entrepreneurship at ESCP Europe, explains how an entrepreneurial mindset, methods and networks can be developed and created within the company and what makes an entrepreneur different from e.g. a manager in his way of thinking, deciding and acting.

To drive innovation, companies are trying to become more entrepreneurial and to encourage intrapreneurship. But what is an entrepreneur? What makes it different from e.g. a manager? How does he think, how does he decide, how does he act? Do you need a garage, do you have to be a risk taker, and do you need charisma or the entrepreneur gene? One thing is certain: Without more knowledge about the Entrepreneur, all attempts to venture more intrapreneurship in corporates will fail.
