Programme Management Nanobiotechnology
The distance learning program is made up of 11 topics, which include characterization techniques, chemical and physical synthesis of nanoparticles, processing coatings, ceramics and composites, basics of molecular biology, genetics, screening methods in biology, chip technology, nanotechnologically modified biomaterials, nanomotors, and nanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
Program Emphasis
Study contents in the first semester:
Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics
Fundamentals of Molecular Biology, Genetics
Nanoparticles as Therapeutic Drug Carriers and Diagnostics
Molecular Nanosystems: Sensors and Molecular Motors
Characterization of Nanostructures
Screening Methods in Biology, Chip Technologies
Study contents in the second semester:
Physical and Chemical Synthesis of Nanoparticles
Processing Coatings and Their Applications
Processing Ceramics and Composites and Their Applications
Interactions between Biological and Non-Biological Devices
Nanotechnologically Modified Biomaterials
Requirements / Application
The application is open to persons with a first degree in a discipline related to engineering, natural sciences, pharmaceuticals or medicine. Further information can be found here.
Evidence of knowledge
Since the programme is taught in English, sufficient evidence of English language skills must be provided. More information can be found in the examination regulations.
Tuition / Fees
Financial Aid
Employers are often also willing to contribute to the costs of training for their workforce. And low-interest bank loans geared specifically to funding training courses and offered by the government and by banks, such as the KfW Development Bank, represent another good option. However, financial support as per the rules of Germany's Social Security Code (SBG III) or Federal Education and Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is not possible, unfortunately.
Duration of study
A weekly commitment of around 20 hours is required to study the material, complete the mail-in exercises and take the examinations (amongst others).
