The WHU Master in Finance addresses graduates from around the world with an excellent first academic degree in a business-related field of study as well as good quantitative skills. This unique program provides students with an in-depth understanding of financial markets combined with practical relevance and a global perspective. A supporting study environment enables students to gain their master’s degree in as little as 17 or 21 months. The language of instruction is English.

The Master in Finance is a full-time program that starts at the beginning of September each year with two study sections on the WHU campus in Vallendar. Students will choose eleven modules. Up to three modules are available from the Master in Management Program. The choice of finance modules is wide and covers key financial issues including Capital Market Theory, Financial Valuation, Asset Management, Behavioral Finance, and many more. The compulsory internship provides students with the opportunity to put theory into practice. An integrated study abroad, either within the scope of the capstone module abroad, a semester abroad, or even by joining one of WHU’s unique double degree programs, provides valuable international experience.

Students with a 210 ECTS bachelor’s degree will be able to join the 90 credit track which lasts 17 months and includes an international capstone module abroad. Students with a 180 ECTS bachelor’s degree will participate in the 120 credit track which lasts 21 months and includes one semester abroad at one of WHU’s partner universities worldwide.

Students in the Master in Finance Program may also opt for the double degree programs. They will spend two semesters abroad at selected partner universities and earn a full degree from the respective partner university (usually an MBA degree) in addition to the MSc degree from WHU.


Requirements / Application

For the Master in Finance Program, WHU is looking for graduates with an above-average track record in their academic education who show personal commitment and possess excellent English-language as well as quantitative skills.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school in a business-related field of study with at least 180 ECTS credits
  • GMAT score of at least 600 points or GRE of at least 155 Verbal and 155 Quantitative, or TM-BASE of at least 103
  • TOEFL (min. score: 100 IBT) or IELTS (min. score 7.0)
  • Practical experience (five months internship/s or equivalent
  • International experience (study or internship abroad)
  • Completion of WHU’s application forms
  • Passing of WHU’s Admission Test

Important Dates

The application deadline for the Master in Finance (beginning in September 2017) will be in early May, 2017.

Tuition / Fees

The tuition fees for the Master in Management Program beginning in September 2017 are € 19,500 for the 90 ECTS credit track program and € 24,000 for the 120 ECTS credit track program.

Financial Aid

WHU offers a series of financing opportunities in order to ensure that everyone who has successfully passed the admission process and obtains an offer is able to participate in the Master of Science programs.

As a result of their enhanced analytical abilities, graduates of the MSc Program have access to the best international career prospects, in both the business and academic worlds.

On average, WHU graduates have several job offers. A large number of former WHU students reach positions of leadership in a relatively short period. Equally, an above average number of them become top earners.

The range of sectors in which WHU graduates are working today is broad. The focus is on banking and finance, consulting, consumer goods industry, as well as media and publishing. A fair share of a year's intake of students set up their own business.
